Teresa Melder

1st Vice President

Teresa is currently serving her first term as 1 st vice-president of the Arkansas Association of the Deaf (AAD). She was born in Rogers, Arkansas. She lived in several different places in Arkansas before settling in Sherwood. She attended and graduated from the Arkansas School for the Deaf in 1981. She then attended the Southwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf (SWCID) in Big Spring, Texas. Later she transferred to Johnson County Community College (JCCC) in Overland Park, Kansas and graduated with an AA degree in General Business-Secretarial. While attending SWCID and JCCC, she had 2 sons.

After graduating from JCCC, Teresa moved to Memphis, Tennessee and worked for two years at Shelby County Code Enforcement. She then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 18 years and as a part-time travel agent at The Sunset Cruise Agency for 10 years. While living in Memphis, she had 2 more children. After 20 years living in Memphis, she moved back to Arkansas. Currently she works full-time as a Department Manager at Walmart in Lonoke and manages two rental homes.
